Song for Anna (Herb Ohta) 1973

This is the authentic recording of SONG FOR ANNA, featuring the Hawaiian ukulele master Herb Ohta (Ohta-San) with Andre Popp Orchestra.

Ohta studied under Eddie Kamae in Hawaii before making his first recordings in Japan while stationed there as a Marine. In 1974, Ohta-San ("san" is a Japanese term conveying respect) travelled to Paris to record SONG FOR ANNA with Andre Popp. The resultant performance artfully weds Polynesian and European influences to produce a gentle work of lasting beauty.

Paul Mauriat also recorded the same song later that year, but with a guitar instead of ukulele, and using a French name "Chanson pour Anna".
