Jeep Wrangler YJ ignition switch location and easy replacement method.

Описание к видео Jeep Wrangler YJ ignition switch location and easy replacement method.

This is a 1990 Jeep Wrangler YJ. Just a quick explanation of where the ignition switch is located and my method of removal and replacement.

1st, remove the bezel covering the instruments (speedometer, tachometer ect).
2nd, remove the 6 bolts holding the bracket on the steering column (2 - 14mm and 4 - 13mm).
3rd, remove the 5/16 bolt and 3/8 nut holding the hi/lo beam switch and move the switch out of the way (the hi/lo switch shares the mounting screws with the ignition switch). Now you can remove the 5/16 stud that the 3/8 nut was on to remove the ignition switch. Once the ignition switch is free, then you can lift it up off of the ignition rod and move it around to get easier access to the 2 wiring connectors and disconnect them. Now just do everything in reverse to install the new switch. You will need pay attention to the hi/lo switch rod and adjust it while reinstalling the hi/lo switch. When you have the ignition switch and hi/lo switch tightened back down, make sure to test the ignition and headlights high and low beams before you move on to reinstatement of the steering column bracket and bezel so that you don't have to start the process all over if you are off by a little on your adjustment or if you happened to get a defective switch!
