Louis Moreau Gottschalk (1829-1869) was an American pianist and composer. This piece was published in 1855 and mimics banjo playing methods at the time. Ivan Davis (b. 1932) is an American classical pianist and does an amazing performance.

This video contains the biggest error I've ever made on YouTube. From about 3:27-3:39 Davis performs an "ossia" passage which I had removed from the sheet music. I wish I could just replace the images used during those 12 seconds.
