I recently joined a 2-day excursion organized by the OIA (Office of International Affairs), taking us through the vibrant streets of Taichung and the scenic landscapes of Miaoli. It was an incredible weekend filled with hidden gems and local favorites. Here’s a breakdown of our itinerary:
Day 1: Creativity & City Lights
DIY Doll Making: We kicked off the trip by getting our hands dirty at a local craft workshop. It was such a fun, therapeutic way to start the journey and take home a personalized souvenir.
Rainbow Village: Next, we visited this iconic kaleidoscope of color. Walking through the vibrant murals painted by "Grandpa Rainbow" feels like stepping into a living storybook.
National Taiwan Museum of Comics: A must-visit for art lovers! This spot blends history with modern pop culture, housed in beautifully restored architecture.
Fengjia Night Market: After checking into our hotel and freshening up, we headed straight to Taichung's legendary night market. From stinky tofu to sweet potato balls, we ate our way through the stalls.
Day 2: Serenity & Scenic Views
Local Temple Visit: We started the morning with some quiet reflection at a stunning traditional temple, admiring the intricate carvings and peaceful atmosphere.
Miaoli Windmills: To wrap up the trip, we headed to the coast of Miaoli. Standing beneath the massive wind turbines with the ocean breeze and the endless view of the coastline was the perfect way to end the weekend.
