The Eilean Mor lighthouse stands on Ireland's remote Flannan Island, whose only inhabitants are its lighthouse keepers.

Named after Saint Flannan, it has long been used for grazing sheep, and it is rumored that shepherds refused to sleep on Flannan Island because of the spirits of lost souls that haunt it.

It is also the setting of a great historical mystery: the disappearance of three lighthouse keepers in 1900.

On December 26, Captain Jim Harvie introduced a new worker, Joseph Moore, to the lighthouse and dismissed the other three lighthouse keepers.

When they were getting close to the island, he noticed the relief flag wasn't up, and there wasn't anyone waiting at the landing of Eilean Mor. Captain Harvie sounded a whistle and shot a flare-up to signal the lighthouse keepers, but the island remained silent.

Moore was sent ashore to investigate. He immediately knew that something was wrong, as the lighthouse was unlocked. Once inside, he found that no fire was lit, the beds were unused, and even the clocks had stopped.

There was absolutely no sign of the lighthouse keepers. Moore ran back to the ship to inform Captain Harvey, who subsequently ordered a search of the islands for the missing men. But no one was ever found.

Speculation ran wild all over Ireland. Was the cause for the three men's disappearance something supernatural? A case of madness brought on by isolation?

Even over a hundred years later, no bodies have been found. A concrete explanation for the strange event remains elusive. Ever since the strange disappearance, some have reported hearing voices in the wind calling the lost men's names.
