Dogs do not belong in cemeteries because they disrupt the solemn, peaceful atmosphere that needs to be maintained. They kill grass and trees with their waste. One in twenty people have a crippling fear of dogs. Many, many more people experience varying degrees of anxiety, discomfort, and disgust in the presence of dogs. It is unfair to expect them to put up with dogs when they are paying respects to their loved ones at the cemetery. Allowing dogs to relieve themselves near or on gravesites is extremely disrespectful. Dogs in cemeteries will do what dogs do and will bark, chase, attack, and hump people. Dogs bring mayhem wherever they are allowed to go, and it is very disrespectful to the dead as well as to those who are grieving to allow dogs in cemeteries. Some people are comforted by the presence of dogs, but there are other things that can comfort you, such as human beings, medication, or even stuffed animals. Dogs do not grieve the way humans do. They have no concept of what a cemetery is. If they could reach their master's dead body, they would most likely eat it. They do not care about you. They do not feel empathy. Dogs lack the capacity to feel love. If you have no friends or family members who can accompany you to the cemetery and comfort you, it is time to visit a therapist or a psychiatrist to help you work through your issues. Can't you leave your dog in the car for 5 minutes? What is wrong with you? Have some respect for the dead and those who are grieving. KEEP DOGS OUT OF CEMETERIES!
