A few months ago, I did a comparison between two popular air fryers—one from Pigeon and the other being the Philips Air Fryer. After using both, I ended up sticking with the Philips one. Many of you had questions about it, so after using it for 5–6 months, I thought it’s the right time to share a full air fryer review based on real home usage.
One quick note before we get into the cooking part: the Philips Air Fryer comes with a 16A plug. This was not clearly mentioned on Amazon or Flipkart when I bought it, so make sure you have a suitable socket at home before buying it.
Now coming to the design—it looks really sleek with a matte black finish. Everyone who’s visited my kitchen has complimented how premium it looks. But the matte body does attract oil marks easily, so I end up cleaning it often. A small tradeoff for style, I guess.
Let’s talk about how to use an air fryer like this one. I’m not someone who cooks daily, so I was worried about the learning curve. But honestly, it’s extremely easy to operate. It has just two dials—temperature and timer. Philips even has basic instructions printed on top for common foods. I also referred to the Philips app and YouTube for air fryer recipes, which helped a lot in the beginning. You don’t really need any experience to get started.
Over the past few months, I’ve used it for a variety of things. Baking is where this fryer really shines. I’ve made muffins and pizzas in it multiple times—and they come out amazing every single time. If you use the right ingredients and recipe, the result is as good as anything store-bought. Definitely one of the best air fryer options I’ve tried for baking.
I also used it for quick toasting and reheating. Toasted bread comes out crispy, and it works great for warming leftovers—better than a microwave in many cases. It also handles frozen food like fries, smileys, and nuggets really well—even without using any extra oil. So if you're into air fryer recipes healthy or air fryer recipes vegetarian, this is a great tool.
My go-to dish in this has to be muffins. They’re quick, easy, and always a hit. That said, not everything works. I tried popcorn—it didn’t pop at all. I also struggled with a burger patty made from batter; it didn’t cook evenly. So yes, some trial and error is needed, and this air fryer does have its limitations.
The best part? Cleaning. You just pull out the basket, rinse it, and you’re done. Occasionally I clean the inside too, but overall, it’s low maintenance and super convenient.
One thing to keep in mind: I’m using the 4.2L variant. It’s perfect for 1–2 people, maybe 3 at max. But if you have a bigger family, I’d definitely recommend a larger model. Also, this version doesn’t have a transparent front, so you can’t see the food while it’s cooking. That means you need to stop and open the basket to check. I think models with a see-through window would be more helpful. Also, the timer dial isn’t very precise—it works fine, but it’s not digital or exact.
So overall, if you’re looking for an easy-to-use, low-maintenance, and stylish air fryer for everyday use, this one from Philips is a solid choice. I’ve linked the exact model I’m using below—check it out if you're interested, and let me know in the comments what recipes you’d like me to try next!
