Описание к видео Brahms Symphony No. 3 - 'Allegretto' - Stokowski - First Recording (Acoustic 78rpm 1921)

In 1921, Stokowski and the Philadelphia Orchestra made the first recording of any of the movements in Brahms's symphonies with the 'Allegretto' from his Symphony No. 3. It was recorded acoustically and with the introduction of electrical recording a few years later, Stokowski became the first conductor to record all four Brahms symphonies as a complete cycle. The historic Brahms 78rpm disc heard here has been released on 'Pristine Audio' PASC 476 along with many other 'first recordings' made with the old acoustic process.
