Derron Ross - Comic Convos at SDCC 2024

Brooklyn Quarter is excited to partner with League of Filmmakers and Cinematography for Actors to bring you this interview series from the Gaslamp District in downtown San Diego. We chat with with actors, writers, directors, game designers, creators, and artists about their work — as well as their Comic-Con experiences & rituals.

Derron Ross is a Stunt Coordinator, Stunt Performer & Actor. Known for his action design across a myriad of Video Games, Film & TV projects for more than 2 decades. His latest action design work can be seen for the cinematics of the recently released Destiny 2: The Final Shape.

Prior to that he has been a stunt coordinator for the award winning Star Wars video game series Jedi Fallen Order & its sequel Jedi Survivor, designing action for the games’ cinematics & gameplay combat design.

His work can also be seen for the opening to the Batman game: Gotham Knights in which Derron fully wrote, designed & performed with his stunt team the opening action sequence to the game, showing Ra’s Al Ghul taking down Batman in his own Batcave. Derron also fully redesigned the whole Batcave for the sequence.

Revisiting Star Wars: The Old Republic to create the action for the 10-year Anniversary trailer for Legacy of the Sith has been another recent highlight for him after an 18 year odyssey at Blur Studio designing action for all their cinematic game trailers for multiple Star Wars projects, the Batman Arkham series of games, Destiny, Halo, The Division & many other game, film & TV projects.

Understanding the power of teamwork & courageous problem solving through all the years working with diverse martial, stunt, & animation talent, Derron continues to push the boundaries of action design, motion capture, digital cinematography & virtual production with teams of incredibly talented collaborators he’s always grateful to work with.
