1950 HITS ARCHIVE: Sentimental Me - The Ames Brothers (their original #1 version)

Описание к видео 1950 HITS ARCHIVE: Sentimental Me - The Ames Brothers (their original #1 version)

Sentimental Me (Morehead-Cassin) by The Ames Brothers, orchestra conducted by Roy Ross

As if occupying the top spot in the country with their novelty “Rag Mop” wasn’t enough of a surprise for the new hit-making quartet, everyone began flipping it over and “Sentimental Me” turned into an even bigger hit, spending 27 weeks on the Billboard singles charts.

Once “Rag Mop” began to fade, the flipside ballad was still on the rise; so Coral Records reissued “Sentimental Me” with a different number and the new B-side “Blue Prelude.” In searching through piles of old 78s you’ll see both versions. The Russ Morgan and Ray Anthony versions are also posted.

As with the Ames’ other major Coral hits “Rag Mop” “Undecided” and “Can Anyone Explain,” “Sentimental Me” was re-recorded by them several years later on the widely-distributed RCA Victor “Best Of” LP, but with a different arrangement conducted by Sid Ramin.
