In this video, we explain Section 311 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, which lays down the manner of recording evidence in trials before a Court of Session.

This section provides that in Sessions trials, the evidence of each witness shall be taken down in writing as the examination proceeds, either by the Presiding Judge himself or under his direction and supervision.

Section 311 is extremely important for Judiciary Exam Aspirants, Law Students, and Advocates, as it deals with the most serious category of criminal trials and ensures accuracy, authenticity, and fairness in the recording of evidence.
