Money Saving Art Tips! Using Sandpaper for Pastel Painting

As artists we quickly realize that quality supplies really make a difference, but they're so darn expensive! Here is a tip for pastel painting that may save you money for working on fun or practice pieces. You can use regular sandpaper from a hardware store if it has a fine enough tooth to the surface. I found some at the dollar store and literally only spent less than 3 cents for the paper in this painting. I would not recommend using this as a painting to sell, but it's great for experimenting and practice, especially if you are a "starving artist" with limited funds at first. I stress again though, this is not a surface to use professionally as it may not hold up like quality sanded papers. Enjoy and Happy Painting!
