No batteries, no problem. The joy of listening to AM broadcasts without any power source has always been fascinating by many including myself.

When I was younger the Science Fair Crystal radio set was my introduction to AM and its wonders. Fast forward to 2008 and my interest peaked again in the hobby and had me interested in building my own kit or buying one already made.

The choice was easy once I found out about this little wonder. The Howes CR-5 was perfect, and it was very inexpensive for all the labor and materials that went into handcrafting it.
