Improved reupload of my first video essay. This was my capstone project for my degree in Media and Cinema Studies from the College of Communications at DePaul University.

In 1967, the kaiju boom peaked when all five of Japan's major studios released at least one monster movie. In 2017, fifty years later, three films inspired by the Japanese kaiju genre hit American theaters within a month of each other, part of a revival that's been gaining momentum throughout the 2010s. Why is this happening, and why now?
