The nursing crisis has caused many healthcare providers to evaluate how they can attract, develop and retain talent in the field. Many are beginning to utilize education benefits to remove cost as a barrier for aspiring nurses, opening access to higher education to a large group of working adults. It is now time for nursing schools to take the baton and evolve their education programs to serve working adult learners so they can successfully upskill and fill these desperately needed roles. A few key strategies to build programs inclusive to this population of working adult learners that we will highlight are: Competency-Based Education, Stackability and Credit for X.
