Check out this new exclusive gameplay demo look at The Eternal Life of Goldman, a vibrant yet dark 2D adventure-platformer from Weappy Studio, published by THQ Nordic and built in Unity 6. We captured the first 1 hour of the game with RTX 5090 and 4K monitor (no commentary). The game immediately stands out with its fully hand-crafted visual design, beautifully animated characters, striking environments, and a poetic narrative tone. Its demanding difficulty and precision-focused gameplay evoke the spirit of classic platformers, while the tight controls and overall feel may remind players of titles like Metroidvania, Hollow Knight, Rayman, and Ori and The Blind Forest.

Description:

The Eternal Life of Goldman is set across a sprawling, hand-drawn archipelago inspired by ancient fables, myths, and folklore. Players are tasked with unraveling the mystery of a legendary Deity that everyone speaks of, yet no one has ever seen. Unlike more traditional platformers that often rely on repeated visual assets or recycled environments, Goldman’s world is animated frame-by-frame using classic techniques. Each island, character, and background carries a distinct handcrafted identity. The narrative unfolds organically through exploration, environmental storytelling, and encounters with eccentric characters, creating an experience that feels both visually rich and emotionally layered.
