Some facts.

During the Ice Age, especially the Pleistocene, there were many large mammals on Earth. All of them are now considered extinct, and their bones and mummified remains are found all over the world.

Woolly Rhinoceros

The woolly rhinoceros lived in Europe and Asia. It is also called hairy: dense vegetation on the body allowed the animal to tolerate the cold well. The animal was large and could weigh up to two tons. And with a horn, the length of which reached a meter, the rhinoceros got grass for itself in snowy winters. These huge horns have long been found in the territory of the Russian North. Local people considered them to be the claws of birds, about which they composed legends.

Ancient people ate rhinoceros meat, used its skin and bones, and the animal was often depicted in hunting scenes inside caves. Scientists have found such rock paintings in Europe and the Urals.

Woolly rhinoceroses lived on Earth during the Ice Age and died out about 10 thousand years ago - due to climate change and active hunting by ancient people.
