Hi Everyone! Welcome to my Channel!

In this video you will see 4 quick food ideas which suits babies over 6 months of age. 6 months is the time which our babies get exposed to solid food. In Asia, Rice is the recommended first food for babies. Always make sure you introduce a new food variety according to 3-days rule (which is giving the same food in small quantities continuously for 3 days. You can gradually increase the amount you feed your baby through out that time period).

The food you prepare for your baby during the initial stage should be semi-solid in texture. It should not be totally in liquid form but need to have a smooth semi-thick texture. According to Sri Lankan government handbook given, we need to feed 2-3 teaspoon full of Rice puree in one feeding time. Fruits are given mostly as a morning or evening snack. You can start giving fruits to babies after the 4th day of starting solids. Initially you should limit fruit puree to 1-2 teaspoon on the first day ; later you can increase the amount little by little. Always remember to follow the 3-day rule here as well. Two of the perfect first fruits are papaya and banana. I have used those in my recipes in this video.

Eggs need to be introduced to babies as soon as 6 months of age. Introducing protein and iron rich food in the early stage will help baby to develop his body and brain. Also it will help to prevent allergies for that certain food type. You can start introducing egg yolk to your baby after 2 weeks of starting solids. Make sure to fully boil the egg. In today's video, I have shown very easy recipes which can be made using egg yolk. Just keep in mind that Eggs are a great food which helps your baby to gain his/her weight.

Pumpkin is a great First vegetable which can be introduced during 6 months of age. Pumpkin helps your baby to gain weight too. Pumpkin aids for baby's digestion and also increase metabolism.I have included a recipe on how to create a quick snack using pumpkin.

Yogurt is another weight gaining food type which we can give to babies at their early age. Some paediatricians recommend to offer yogurt to babies from 6 months. Some says to wait a little bit longer than that. Always keep in mind to follow the instructions given by your paediatrician on this. Anyway, I have shown you a recipe using home-made sugar free yogurt in case if you decide to give it from 6 months. I started giving yogurt after 2 weeks from the day of starting solids.

It is easy to prepare yogurt at home. The advantage is we do not add any colouring, preservatives and specially sugar. I will bring that recipe soon when I have free time.

Fats like butter , coconut milk or oil can be given to your baby after 1 week of starting solids.
