साल 1979 में असम के माजुली द्वीप पर 16 साल के जादव पायेंग ने एक ऐसा नज़ारा देखा जिसने उनकी ज़िंदगी बदल दी। भीषण सूखे में सैकड़ों सांप मर गए थे। उसी दिन से जादव ने ठान लिया कि वह इस बंजर ज़मीन को हराभरा करेंगे।

बिना किसी मदद के उन्होंने अकेले पेड़ लगाना शुरू किया। आज उनका यह प्रयास एक जंगल में बदल गया है जो न्यूयॉर्क के सेंट्रल पार्क से भी बड़ा है। इस जंगल में 100 से ज़्यादा प्रजातियों के पेड़, पक्षी, हिरण, गैंडे, बाघ और हाथियों का बसेरा है।

जादव पायेंग हमें सिखाते हैं कि एक अकेला इंसान भी दुनिया बदल सकता है – बस इरादे और मेहनत की ज़रूरत है।

In 1979, a 16-year-old boy from Assam, Jadav Payeng, witnessed a devastating drought that killed hundreds of snakes. That moment changed his life forever. He vowed to turn barren land into a green forest.

With no help, he started planting trees one by one. Today, his forest is larger than New York’s Central Park and home to over 100 species of trees, deer, rhinos, tigers, elephants, and countless birds.

Jadav Payeng proves that one person’s vision and persistence can change the world.
