Oil Painting Demo - "The Red House"

Learn how I apply color over a grisaille (gray scale) painting in this video. The painting was originally painted plein air in a grisaille fashion and then was allowed to dry. I used an extended range of colors and Liquin for my medium. Before I started the painting I mixed up several piles of color that represented the main colors in the piece. I then could adjust their temperature as needed. When I adjusted the original color, I was careful to mix a new version adjacent to the original...thus creating "strings" to use in the painting. This allowed me to maintain my original "mother" color.
I recommend you try the grisaille technique for yourself...very useful.
