Hello, hello everyone! I know it has been a long time since I have made a vlog. Surely, some of you might be wondering about ‘that Deaf SS lady’ has been quiet. It has been a busy summer which I have enjoyed, and I hope you too!

I also want to let you know that I still provide benefits counseling services – specifically for beneficiaries who receive Social Security benefits and are either 1) working or 2) planning to work, which is really the core of what I do to help people make informed decisions about work as well as how to navigate Social Security programs and their system with regard to working while receiving Social Security benefits, including but not limited to: how to report wages, how to avoid overpayments, and other issues that may come up. That being said, I cannot emphasize this enough: I encourage people to reach out to me especially if you are receiving Social Security benefits AND you are working, or thinking about going back to work, it is important to make an appointment with me to receive information or you can get free benefits counseling services through WIPA. I will include information in the post. So, why benefits counseling? I have seen this numerous times: Social Security beneficiaries who go to work while continuing to receive SS benefits often see their benefits affected. Not only their Social Security benefits may be affected, but also, other benefits like SNAP (food stamps), housing assistance (HUD, Section 8, etc.), Medicaid, and Medicare. It is crucial that you become self-educated and proactive in preventing problems.

Oftentimes, Social Security beneficiaries will often work for years before they realize there’s an overpayment and then they come to me for help. This would mean having to go far back into work history to try to remedy the situation- which would mean more complex, more time, and more costly.

If you have just begun to receive Social Security benefits and you plan to go to work, or you have already gone back to work, grab the opportunity to make an appointment with me for 45 minutes to check to make sure your benefits are on the right track and get guidance on next steps.

If you are working with Florida, Texas, or Maryland Vocational Rehabilitation, the VR counselor can make a referral for you to receive benefits counselling services with me at no cost to you. Keep this in mind if this applies to you. If you are a Maryland resident, you can call the WIPA to tell them that you would like benefits counseling, they can refer you to the WIPA who will also refer you to me. I will post the information. Thank you and have a good day!
