Hyundai Accent WRC In Action - Starts, Accelerations, Turbo Sounds & AntiLag!

It took me some time and different events (many editions of San Marino's RallyLegend) to be able to accumulate enough material and put together a dedicated video to Hyundai's first WRC car.
The Accent WRC was developed in 1999 ahead of the 2000 Word Rally Championship with the help of Motor Sport Developments (MSD) and Mountune. It debuted at the 2000 Swedish Rally.

For the 2001 season the team developed an evolution of the first car. It was called Accent WRC2 and it featured revised aerodynamics and body, active front differential, longer suspension travel and improved suspension top mounts, although most of the attention was directed at improving reliability. The car's best result in a WRC event remained a fourth place.

The third and last evolution of the car, the Accent WRC3, mainly concerned the engine (now developed entirely by MSD). It was used in the 2002 and 2003 seasons, at the end of which Hyundai announced the abandonment of the project due to the insufficient budget and also following the withdrawal of their main sponsor, Castrol.

The car was powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, which was able to produce around 300hp, and it was linked to a 6-speed sequential gearbox.

Most of this video is about 'chassis no. 2', which was built in 2000 and used by Alister McRae in 5 rounds of the championship. It was later upgraded to WRC2 and WRC3. I recorded it during 4 different edition of the RallyLegend. The second Accent you see in this video is chassis no. 23 in action during the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed. This car was built in 2002 as a WRC3/Evo 3 Accent and driven in two WRC rounds by Armin Schwarz. It was then used by Freddy Loix in some WRC rounds both in 2002 and in 2003.
