During the couple days off between the first and second London shows of Paul's second solo world tour, the McCartney family would go through a bit of a scary episode. Paul's 16 year-old son, James, was swept out to sea while surfing with friends. The coast guard was called, his family rushed to the site, but he emerged safe on his own 40 minutes later. Things thankfully went well, but Paul's definitely a bit "on-edge" tonight, as evident by his shorter speeches and him slightly touching upon the incident during a speech after 'Live and Let Die'.

Now onto the performances. Despite Paul being a little shaky here and there when compared to the first night, we still get some top tier performances of songs such as 'Jet' and 'Biker', as well as yet another blistering 'Pepper'. On top of this, Hamish is in strong shape and sings some fantastic backing vocals to 'Coming Up', as well as a fantastic 'Ain't No Sunshine'. For whatever reason, this superb audience recording has the crowd very low on the mix, but they still get to shine nicely during 'Hey Jude'. An audience video also exists from tonight's show, filmed by Jason Hobbs. This upload uses an upgrade shared by him, which is sourced straight from the master tapes. While the footage from tonight is quite fragmentary, he'd film the third night in full, but that's a story for another upload.
