⚙️ Episode 15 – How to Start Steel Production | Oxygen Not Included Base Game

In this episode, we’ll cover how to start steel production—a huge milestone for any Oxygen Not Included colony.

We begin by centralizing our power generation into the Carbon District, built in the old oil biome. This new area will serve as the hot industrial core of our map, allowing us to better automate power and begin distributing it from a single, centralized hub.

To make the commute more efficient, we put some of our massive plastic reserves to work, building a transit tube system so duplicants can quickly move between the main base and the Carbon District.

Finally, we install our steel production facilities, including all the automation needed to support it:

Automating lime production from fossils, egg shells, and molts
Producing refined carbon from wood and coal
Setting up the supply chains for reliable steel output

With steel online, we unlock the ability to take on mid-game industry and prepare the way for advanced infrastructure in future episodes.
