Sean Mackey, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Anesthesiology at Stanford University. He serves as the Director of the Stanford Systems Neuroscience and Pain Lab as well as Co-Director of the Stanford Pain Research and Clinical Center -- an interdisciplinary initiative within the Neuroscience Institute at Stanford to bring together researchers, clinicians, engineers, patients and their advocacy groups, and industry to work toward solving the problem of chronic pain.

He is a member of several professional organizations and serves as a reviewer for scientific journals in the areas of pain, psychology, anesthesiology, and neurology. Dr. Mackey has published over 40 articles and book chapters. He presents papers and lectures at both national and international Pain Management and Anesthesiology meetings annually.
