A Twenty-Eight Day Rule Airstrip

Описание к видео A Twenty-Eight Day Rule Airstrip

In the UK, there is a rule which allows someone to build an airstrip on their own land, and for 28 days of any given year, operate it as a live airstrip without requiring the planning permission necessary to operate it as a full-time strip.

There is a farmer and his family who have done exactly that and they put a few of their permitted days throughout the year to a really good use.

They drag out the barbecue and a cool-box of other refreshments after inviting pilots to drop by in their flying machines and pop some money into a charity bucket for the local Air Ambulance.

It attracts visitors from far and wide.

The event attracts quite a few photographers every time it is held.

It is customary for departing pilots to come back around for another pass...

... or two.
