TED FLIES WITH CHRISTOPHE SIMON IN FANTASTIC CAP10 DISPLAY • OLD BUCKENHAM AIR SHOW 2023

Christophe Simon performs his award winning display in the Mudry CAP-10C at the Old Buckenham Air Show but joining him in the display was our very own Squadron Leader Ted Coningsby. We were also honoured to present Christophe an Honorary Ted Coningsby Display Award.

Christophe chose to have music with his display and took his time to find the right content. He chose the M83 song that is featured in the awesome movie OBLIVION, with actor Tom Cruise. Now, with airshows, whatever happens in the background can affect the video and not only did we have this a challenge but we had an aircraft running its engines right by us, so we chose to cut the background out and just use Christophe's chosen track.

Christophe is part of the Tiger Club, which was founded in 1957 with the aim of encouraging all aspects of sport flying. They are keen to teach the different kinds of sport flying, including aerobatics, formation flying, air racing and display flying. However, Christophe was told at a young age that he would never become a pilot. He is part of the Reserve French Air Force and he will continue the dream to inspire and succeed.

Christophe can be seen flying at Damyns Hall Aerodrome in Essex and they welcome any pilot or aviation enthusiast who wishes to fly any of their aircraft, whether as a memorable one-off experience or as a series of lessons to develop new skills and airmanship. They also offer pilots the chance to fly what are nowadays unusual types of aircraft, and to perfect the skills required to operate these special planes.

The Tiger Club is run by its members, and owned by a group of members. It is a friendly place, largely staffed by volunteers, and we encourage everyone to get involved. They have a Duty Pilot system in operation at the weekend which helps new members meet other pilots and learn about the operation of the Club and the aircraft. If you are looking for a Club where you can be involved, you will be very welcome.

Mudry CAP-10
The Mudry CAP 10 is a two-seat training aerobatic aircraft first built in 1970 and still in production in 2007. The plane was developed from the Piel Super Emeraude and was born as the CP100. The name changed to CAP 10, CAP for 'Constructions Aéronautiques Parisiennes'. The CAP 10 was manufactured by Mudry (name of its designer) in Bernay, France, bought by CAP Industries which then became Apex Aircraft.

Stall speed: 100 km/h (62 mph, 54 kn) flaps up 85 km/h (46 kn; 53 mph) flaps down.

Service ceiling: 5,000 m (16,000 ft)
