Above / Episode Three / Detroit

Spent a few days in the Motor City with the all-new DJI Mavic 2 Pro with a Hasselblad camera and 1" sensor. This is what I saw...

-------------

If you know me, you know my love for the Motor City. It started around 1995, I was a personal captain for a businessman that lived in the Greater Detroit area. Every year for about 4 years I would take the boat from South Florida, where we kept it in the winter, to Detroit for the summer, then back to South Florida. By the late 90’s unfortunately, Detroit had already begun its slide downward and we would only go into Detroit for clubs and concerts, either at The State Theater (now the Fillmore) or the Club, Motor.

Over the next 15 years or so, I would venture back to Detroit, and I was in awe. Things were bad. I learned the true definition of "Urban Decay". Showing members of my creative team, Detroit for the first time, it was difficult for them to understand why I loved Detroit so much. We would go exploring to take photos and video, flying the drone and really showing how bad Detroit was to the rest of the world. It was truly sad. As years progressed, we started to see change. Big change. When I first got my original DJI Phantom equipped with the GoPro Hero Camera, I filmed a short video of Detroit back in 2014.

Then, last month, we were in town for some client work, the new DJI Mavic 2 Pro had just been delivered to my hotel, so we went flying. I wanted to show the 2018 Detroit.

The original DJI Mavic Pro was a game changer and I love(d) it! However, the Mavic 2 Pro? Stability, Camera and Battery life. The big stand-outs with this new drone. Then the new Hasselblad Camera, amazing photos and video, especially in low light situations. I only had the opportunity to burn through 3 batteries this trip, at 30 mins of flight time per battery, was VERY convenient. We have the DJI S1000, heavy lift drone, the Inspire 2, Phantom 3 Professional and original Mavic Pro. This new Mavic 2 Pro is my new go-to. (outside of needing to fly for film work)
