BR in the 1980s - The Alan Harrison Collection Part 47 Warrington Bank Quay (British Rail Trains)

During the summer of 1986, my good friend Alan travelled around the UK, armed with a hefty VHS camera, recording the railway scene. I'm delighted to be able to bring you the results. Sadly however, Part 47 is the very last episode of Alan’s incredible odyssey! But what a way to end!! We find Alan on the platform at Warrington Bank Quay station on a weekday, where the shear variety of traction and rolling stock on show is an absolute treat. So turn up your volume to max for one last time and enjoy the whistle of Class 20s on MGR and Speedlink workings, the roar of Class 85s on Passenger and freight, and the howl of Class 86s at speed. Highlights of this episode include a single Class 20 on a pair of Cargo Vans, a Class 85 roaring away on a Speedlink working, and possibly the fastest VW ‘Combi’ Dormabile in the world!! As if to sum up the diversity of the 1980s BR scene, the very last shot features a Class 47 on a long rake of wooden bodied wagons, some of which have raised ends! So, in the words of Bugs Bunny, “Th…th…th..that’s all folks!” I hope you’ve enjoyed watching this series as much as I’ve enjoyed compiling it.
