Today's Manna Message: “Using Your Talents Well” (Leviticus 8:10-13)
Pastor Douglas Randle of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church - San Antonio, Texas

Scripture: Leviticus 8:10-13 NIV
10 Then Moses took the anointing oil and anointed the tabernacle and everything in it, and so consecrated them.
11 He sprinkled some of the oil on the altar seven times, anointing the altar and all its utensils and the basin with its stand, to consecrate them.
12 He poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron’s head and anointed him to consecrate him.
13 Then he brought Aaron’s sons forward, put tunics on them, tied sashes around them and fastened caps on them, as the Lord commanded Moses.

Summary: God has poured our gifts, abilities, and talents into our lives. We must use them well. We cannot neglect or misuse them. We must be faithful in using them. We must be good stewards of those gifts. Talent is not just in us; God has assigned our talents purpose. Talent is consecrated for God’s use, so we must be determined to make sure the talent glorifies God. Remember what God appoints, He anoints! He expects and requires us to be good stewards of our gifts and talents.

Context matters. Stewardship does not begin with striving. Holiness is assigned by divine authority. God chose us to be instruments of His will. Talent does not originate with us or exist for self-expression. God trusts us to use the talent wisely. Gifts and talents are managed resources, not private property. What belongs to God…those talents…must be handled and use according to God’s will.

Message Points:
1. Possession – God claims what He will use. We must be sanctified to use God’s gift. God doesn’t just give the gifts (talents); He assigns them. He sets our talents for His use. That talent you have belongs to God! He will prepare and train you. Stewardship begins
2. Pouring – God consecrates us to use the gift (talent). He fully equips us for what He has called us to do. Talent is not self-generated; it is God-endowed! Anointing is not privilege alone; it is accountability. God’s anointing (consecration) covers everything that is related to and needed for the use of the anointed, assigned talent.
3. Preparation – God clothes those who will serve. Stewardship is corporate; all gifts unite in God’s ordained structure. Everyone who is gifted works within the boundaries of their assigned role. We must use those gifts correctly so that God’s mission goes forth, introducing Him and enlarging the kingdom. Our gift is not careless or casual! We must recognize our gift and how it must be used!

Closing: We must embrace the role and gift God has given us. Stewardship means knowing what God has given us to do and what we should not do. God has entrusted us with something sacred. We did not receive our talents by accident. We must be willing to adjust our talents more for God’s use. Remember God is the giver of the gift!
