International psychedelic collective Al-Qasar are back with a brain-melting cover of DESSE BARAMA, an antiwar love song by legendary Egyptian Nubian composer Hamza El Din. African retro pop innovator (and frequent Al-Qasar collaborator) Alsarah delivers spellbinding, assertive vocals. Fuzz guitars, heavy drums, and Turkish electric saz transform the acoustic original into a psych-dub anthem, with an invincible groove and irresistible textures. The production of studio wizard Thomas Attar (also on guitars and keys) is elevated by Grammy-winner Matt Hyde’s (Slayer, Deftones) warm, massive mix. DESSE BARAMA is the third single from Al-Qasar’s upcoming album UNCOVERED, a mind-boggling project consisting of covers from the Western and Arab repertoires as well as originals, with guest appearances from Alsarah, Mamani Keita, Cheick Tidiane Seck, and Sami Galbi among others.
