Growing out of the Great Plains is the reason why they call North Dakota the Peace Garden State.
Canada and the United States had quite a little spat during The War of 1812 before becoming best friends. Since then, the partnership between these two old allies on the North American continent has helped them both through some tough times.
To commemorate their friendship, the US and Canada planted a "Peace Garden" on the border of the state of North Dakota and the Province of Manitoba where visitors can walk along the border and learn of the about the brotherhood of our two nations.
