Shah Unopposed as ICC Chair // Nuakhai 'Lagna' Finalised

Jay Shah has been appointed as the new ICC chair without any opposition, taking over from Greg Barclay. Shah, who is currently the BCCI secretary, will officially assume the position on December 1. At 35, he became the youngest individual to ever hold this role. Barclay, who served two terms as ICC chair since 2020, informed the board that he would not seek a third term. The board of directors had until August 27 to submit nominations for the new chair. Since Shah was the sole nominee, no election was necessary.
The auspicious timing ('lagna') for offering 'nabanna' (newly harvested rice) during this year's Nuakhai festival in Sambalpur has been set. According to the schedule set by Brahmapura Pandit Mahasabha, the 'nabanna' will be presented to Maa Samaleswari between 9:12 AM and 9:27 AM on September 8.
