Bunaken and Lembeh Islands - Two Fish

Описание к видео Bunaken and Lembeh Islands - Two Fish

After diving in KK and Sipadan, Malaysia, it was time to move to North Sulawesi, Indonesia. Geographically, Indonesia looks really close to Sipadan. However, there are no direct flights. Our best option was to fly to Singapore and then to Manado Indonesia. We first explored the island of Bunakin, followed by the famous muck diving capital of the world, Lembeh Staits. We stayed and dove with Two Fish Dive resort at both locations. They have a great dive operation and arrange all transfers to both islands.

Bunaken Island is one of 5 islands that make up the Bunaken Marine Park, and the diving is on dramatic drop-offs mixed with sloping areas and beautiful coral gardens at the tops of the reef that offer a home to an abundance of reef fish and critters. Most of our dives were wall dives that included fun currents. There were very many large green turtles on the reefs, along with plenty of little critters.

Lembeh Straits is known as the muck diving capital of the world, and is one of the few places in the world where you will see the elusive hairy frog fish, hairy scorpion fish, pygmy sea horses, larger sea horses like the thorny seahorse, mimic octopus, wunderpus and flamboyant cuttlefish to name a few.

Muck dives consist of sandy black slopes with good visibility, approximately 10-25m. It is a macro-photographers dream, as the slopes are teaming with all sorts of fascinating critters and the black sand reduces back-glare. It's not just muck diving, as most dives end in the shallow waters with healthy coral reefs and fish life.

The main reason to dive in this area of Indonesia is the muck diving in Lembeh Straits. We highly recommend diving here with Two Fish Dive Resort. If time permits, we also recommend diving Bunaken Island.

Our 🧭 compass points South to dive and explorer the Komodo Island National Park.
