Happy 50th Anniversary to The Monkees (Peter Tork, Micky Dolenz, Mike Nesmith and David Jones), to their families, friends and fans, and to all of the creative people involved in the show and the music!

I first began playing with digital art a couple of years ago, creating projects to learn and practice. Some of those practice projects were of The Monkees, to give my friends who are fans of the band a smile. A number of those projects were shared on The Peter Tork Facebook Page, where I got christened "Joey The Torkee" and made friends with other Monkees fans.

I'm a "first gen" fan, having discovered the show when it began. Creating this video allowed me to bring things full circle, including some of those early projects as well as messages from Monkees fans.

Thank you to my Torkee friends and others I have met, to the band for the music and the laughter, to Team PTFB at the Peter Tork Facebook Page for creating an online playground, and to my husband Mark, who, between art projects, friends, concerts and writing a novel that mentions The Monkees, has heard a lot about The Monkees in the past couple of years.

I was not paid to create this project and the music is used with permission. Some of my artwork here is based on iconic images of the band and I tried very hard to chase down the names of the photographers. The only one I could locate was Henry Diltz, and I want to be sure to mention that those images inspired me. The current photos are by Sherri Hansen and are used with permission.
