Hi, Uncle Bumpy here again. Someone called in and asked "what are all the side buttons on the Key® Bib Overalls for?" So I’m going to explain it, but before I do I wanted to give a shout out to Chris MacFarlane up there in Duluth, Minnesota. Chris sent me this cap: it’s the International Longshoremen Association, Local 1000, up there in the Twin Ports of Duluth-Superior. Thank you very much Chris.
This video is about the Side Buttons on the Key® Imperial Bib Overall, in both Indigo Blue Denim and Blue & White Hickory Stripe Denim.

Okay, what are the buttons on the side of the KEY Imperial Bib Overall for? Well, it's all about functionality! The first thing that they’re for, is you button them all up. And now you've got a nice seal around your waist so that when you're working and shoveling, working among the cows, dust, whatever you are doing, you don’t get a lot of dirt down inside your bib overalls. So it keeps you cleaner on the inside, covers more of your body. That’s the first function.
Another function is, sometimes in the summertime things get really hot. A lot of fellas wear these buttoned up in the winter, but in the summertime when they need a little extra ventilation, they’ll open up the side buttons....the top or sometimes both sets....but they get a little extra ventilation that way, and you stay a little bit cooler when you're out there all day in the hot sun working.
Something else that the buttons help do, is that when you’ve opened up that top waist button, or after you’ve eaten something and you’ve got a full tummy, or even after you've gone through a cold winter up north....you put a little extra weight on. And, until you take that extra weight off in spring, maybe you need to open the buttons up on the side to give yourself just a little more room around your waist. So they are very functional and that’s what they’re all about! (Opening the side buttons on a pair of KEY Imperial Bib Overalls also comfortably accommodates a heavy shirt of sweatshirt in cooler weather.)
So I thank you very much and be sure to subscribe down below and comment or other helpful hints or other videos along the side and I’m Uncle Bumpy, and remember....Wear are your KEY clothes in safety and good health! Thank You!
(Additional Note: Historically Bib Overalls were worn over a person's street clothes to protect them at work. The side buttons also performed the function of allowing more room to pull the overalls up over your street clothes, then buttoning the side buttons for a good seal around the waist.)
