Описание к видео Why Negative Thoughts are Actually a Good Thing | David Nurse | TEDxFarmingdale

You have always been told, "don't have negative thoughts, just think positive thoughts instead," but in reality, that doesn't work. The negative thoughts don't just magically disappear; they are still very much alive within you. These now suppressed negative thoughts only lead to more stress and more depression. There is a direct correlation between the suppressing of negative thoughts and the growing mental health epidemic that our nation is a suffering from. Nearly one in five U.S. adults struggle with mental health (52.9 million in 2020). This percentage, according to the State of Mental Health in America has only increased every single year since 2011.
And this is definitely not exclusive to adults. One out of every two adolescents have experienced mental health issues (20 million). This means that a record high of 72.9 million people in the US alone struggle with mental health.

However, there is a solution: EMBRACING negative thoughts. David Nurse guides the audience through the science behind why negative thoughts need to be embraced and how in doing so, you will actually be able to live a much more freeing, joyful and positive life. David Nurse has been transforming the way hundreds of NBA stars play on the court for most of his career. In fact, his method was dubbed as training athletes of the future. As a former professional basketball player, David’s ability to get into the zone and master his mindset led him to two Guinness World Records for shooting—a huge accomplishment on its own. In 2016, the Brooklyn Nets hired him as a coach to help players improve their shooting—they went from being 28th in the league to 2nd overall in 3 point shooting. In total, David has worked with over 150 NBA players whose contract earnings amount to 3.2 billion. His two books, Pivot & Go and #1 Amazon Best Seller on the Day of Release Breakthrough, have helped thousands develop confidence and find success. He resides in Marina del Rey with his incredibly talented wife, actress Taylor Kalupa. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
