Is Polygyny Biblical and a valid form of marriage according to the God of the Bible? This video will explain the truth.

All of the primary arguments against polygyny will be addressed in this video. The first and probably the most common is that the Bible only records Adam having one wife(Eve) and that Genesis 2:24 says the following:

Genesis 2:24

24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

They will say that since Adam only had one wife, and since the above scripture says “and they shall be one flesh”, that this is indicative of polygyny being a sin. However, this is an inaccurate analysis. Here are the reasons why:

#1– A man having one wife is Biblically lawful. The fact that Adam had one wife doesn’t address polygyny at all. There are several men in the Bible who were considered righteous who only had one wife. There are also several men in the Bible who were considered righteous who had multiple wives. There are other men who were considered righteous who (as apparent from the Biblical text) remained unmarried. So if a man remains unmarried, is that sin? It must be, because Adam didn’t do that, right? What if Adam had two wives instead of one, would it then be a sin to have three wives? Adam and Eve originally did not eat meat(Genesis 1:29), so is eating meat a sin? Adam and Eve originally did not wear clothes(Genesis 3:7), so does that mean wearing clothes is a sin? As you can see, we cannot look at every thing that Adam and Eve did and call doing anything different a sin.

#2– A man can be one flesh with more than one woman. In 1 Corinthians 6:16 the Apostle Paul explains that a man is one flesh even if he has sex with a harlot(whore). This means that sex is what makes two people one flesh, as they join together physically they become one body. Sex is also a spiritual tying together of two persons. Therefore, a polygynous man is one flesh with each one of his wives, respectively. Watch this video for more details.
