As a user of Adobe Illustrator CC, one thing is that you are about to cover vector paths. So, in this video, you are going to learn how to combine vector paths with one another.

You need to be familiar with three types of paths: a straight path, a crooked path and a closed path.

The first type is the straight path. It has two features: anchor point and path itself. Connects the anchor point where a line begins and ends. But, in a more complex form, it can also indicate where a part of a line begins or ends. The path is the line between those anchor points.

The second type of curved path. It consists of three features: anchor point, path and a third feature called the control handle. The control handle lets you control the curvature of a line between two anchor points. For example, this side control handle allows me to control this side curvature and vice versa.

Finally, the third type is a closed path. A closed path is basically a complete, closed shape. It can be a basic shape like a triangle, square or circle; Or it could be something more complicated. The closed path consists of the same three features: anchor paint, path and control handle. Because they are closed shapes, it is really easy to add color to closed paths

For example, if I draw a basic circle, I can easily add a fill of green color inside the circle.

Now, you can also add color to the curved path. However, the fill is limited to places where the path is curved up or down.

For example, if I draw a curved line with a pencil tool, you will see what I mean. Notice how the green fill color is limited to places where the path is curved up or down.

So, as you can see overall, vector paths are easy to understand. However, this basic understanding will allow you to use drawing tools like pens and pencil tools much more efficiently.
