She has worked in cardiothoracic surgery and currently practices in a tribal health facility in Northern California, specializing in diabetes management. Charissa has been living with lupus symptoms since her early teens, but she was officially diagnosed about five years ago. She continues to pursue treatment for lupus while balancing her career, family, and passion for patient care.
