DIY Tesla Wall Charger 60 amp Install With a Full Breaker Box

This is a comprehensive recap on how I installed my gen 3 Tesla Wall Charger and how I got around the common issue of having a full load center / breaker box.

Below is a list of all the supplies and tools I used to get this job done.

Conductors and ground

6 AWG(gauge) THHN wire - Rated up to 75 amps

Measure out the path you plan on taking from your charger to the load center and add like 10 feet or so for any margin of error .

Ground - You’ll need one ground wire the length of the run you measured.

Conductors (hot) - Double the run measurement for the 2 hot wires as you will need 2 the length you measured.

You should get RED or BLACK colored wire for the 2 conductors -

If not red/black - wrap red tape around ends

PVC conduit - the 3⁄4 PVC conduit comes in 10 foot lengths.

Divide your measurement by 10 and get 1 extra if you have a remainder.

PVC fittings - map out the conduit path on paper and try to figure out how many different kinds of fittings you’ll need

90 degree 3⁄4 in elbows -

This is the piece that will go in the top or bottom of the charger mounting bracket
