Join us at our next Astronomy on Tap for insights from Anastasia Yanchilina, a postdoctoral fellow at the SETI institute and expert in geochemistry and the search for extraterrestrial life.

Astronomy on Tap is a global phenomenon where professional scientists give informal science talks in local bars with accompanying pub trivia and interactions with the public. The Los Angeles chapter of Astronomy on Tap is very active, with monthly events at the Dog Haus Biergarten in Pasadena. This recording is a bit noisy due to the logistics of operating a camera in a crowded bar, but it sufficiently captures the enthusiastic energy of the few hundred attendees each month. Anastasia Yanchilina is a scientist working at the SETI Institute in Northern California. She was raised in Russia before coming to earn her PhD in earth and planetary science at Columbia University in New York. She worked as a postdoc at the Weizmann Institute in Israel and at Caltech, with a stint as a Research Scientist at Impossible Sensing. Dr. Yanchilina's research focuses on geochemistry and the search for signatures of life in the molecules of this planet and others.   / anastasia-yanchilina-a2596424
