with David Hyman, professional tour guide. Korazim National park is a few KM away from Capernaum ( Kfar Nahum) but very few visit this amazing site. If you are truly interested in Jewish life in Galilee in ancient times, then Korazim is the place to visit. The village was founded on a barren Basalt stone hill just north of Lake Kinneret during the first century and thrived for 600 years, Then was destroyed and abandoned until modern times. It is a time capsule, a city frozen in time. The excavations and restoration project conducted by the Nature and antiquity authorities allow us to literally walk in the streets of this town, visit within the homes, understand how they lived, worked, and prayed. The most recent excavations from 2020 have revealed three oil presses on top of the one that was already visible, and just last year the winepress was restored and is now open to the public. The restored Synagogue is truly a gem, especially the stone-carved artifacts that were placed back on the columns and the walls. Korazin is most famous to the chrustian world, being on the short list of towns that were cursed by Jesus for not excepting his message and rejecting his preaching. But from this passage in Matthew's gospel we learn the Jesus did visit here, probably on one of jurneis from Capernaum near by. Start your visit by walking the circular path around the village with views over the Sea of Galilee, and then walk back through the town.
