The maiden flight of my scratch-built r/c plane 'Just Right', built to plans by Tom Binkley, available on outerzone.co.uk. Originally published in RCMW magazine in 2013, the design is an updated version of a Frank Ehling design from 1958.

The model ended up with a wingspan of 925mm/36.5", and an all up weight of 302gm, including 600mah battery. It is swinging an APC 9 x 7.5 E prop, on an Emax CF2822 brushless motor and Dualsky 12amp ESC. She is able to climb out practically vertically with this setup, at full beans.

The designer recommends 2s or 3s battery- I won't be trying 3s, no need on this one!

There was a 5 to 10 knot sea breeze blowing; I look forward to flying this plane in calm conditions, to fine tune the c of g. There's a slope nearby too, on which she should perform nicely in light conditions.

The model is not what I would call robust, the trade-off being light weight, quiet and relaxed flying. I wanted a plane suited to local parks, that would not intimidate, annoy or potentially injure other users of these places. 'Just Right' is just right for this! And so pretty..
