Hallo dear music lovers, we are presenting the second video of our CROWDFUNDING video series for Early Music Days Bucharest 2-4 August 2024.

My name is Vivianne Caragea, and I am a romanian flutist specialized in early music, based in Basel, Switzerland. My greatest wish is to bring early music to the Romanian stage and make it accessible to young musicians and public from Romania. Will you join me in this beautiful project?

About the Early Music Days

•The festival will consist of 3 to 4 different concerts held in the Sacré-Cœur Church in Bucharest. The church has a newly restored positive organ and is becoming an important cultural venue, sustained solely by donations.

•Additionally, three conferences will be held on important topics such as "How to Understand Early Music," "Music in the Romanian Territory During the Baroque Period," and "Women Composers in Early Music." Subjects which aren't that common in Romanian schools.

•As the education of young people is very important to me, a workshop with the guest musicians will be held, teaching the new generations about historical performance, historical instruments, improvisation, and notation.

Who am I?

I am Vivianne, born in Buzau, a city in Romania that may have never heard of historical performance practice. Somehow, after a long and difficult journey, I discovered it and started loving early music at the relatively late age of 26.

Since then, I have understood how difficult it is for Romanian students to access fresh information about almost anything related to art. In less privileged countries, art is often stagnant and less open to new subjects such as inclusivity, diversity, and freedom of mind.

My desire to help nurture Romanian culture was so strong that in 2023 I used my private funds to purchase a harpsichord, which I brought to Romania. Since then, we have used it for concerts and teaching purposes.

However, times are changing, and with the power of the internet, anyone can access information about any matter. Still, humans always need help and connection to learn effectively. Therefore, I truly believe that these Early Music Days will bring me closer to the Romanian desire for learning and help create a new audience in a world where classical music is slowly fading.

Purpose of the funds:

With the received money, we wish to cover:
• Instrument transportation
• A projector
• Costs for flyers, posters, and score printing
• Travel costs for musicians
• Video recording of all concerts
