[Biases and Heuristics] Social desirability bias. When responding to surveys, people tend to over-report socially desirable thoughts and behavior and under-report undesirable ones. We want to look good, even though most surveys are anonymous. We have no strong incentives to tell the truth in surveys. Nor do we suffer the consequences of telling lies in surveys.
