Grayson Perry is an award-winning artist, best known for his work with ceramics, embroidery and photography. Born in Essex in 1960, he graduated from Portsmouth Polytechnic with a degree in Fine Art in 1982, and has since gone on to become one of the country's foremost artists, winning the Turner Prize in 2003. He has exhibited at the British Museum, the Barbican, the Musée d'Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean in Luxembourg, and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Japan, amongst many others.

He also curated the acclaimed exhibition 'Tomb of the Unknown Craftsman' at the British Museum in 2011. He is often recognised for his female alter-ego Claire, whom he sometimes dresses as and who features heavily in his work. In 2012 he created a series of six new tapestries that explores taste and social class in Britain, entitled The Vanity of Small Differences. The making of these tapestries was chronicled in the BAFTA-winning 3-part documentary All in the Best Possible Taste with Grayson Perry. In 2013 he presented the BBC's annual Reith Lectures, and was awarded a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honour's List.
