Howdy. In today’s video we will examine some of the oldest, most unique, and most important locations, monuments, and fortresses in Afghanistan, photographed during the years 1879 and 1880. In these highly detailed and historically significant images we begin to see a landscape that was replete with ancient architecture.

As we examine the architecture, it becomes clear that Afghanistan was once the bustling homeland to a massive conglomerate of kingdoms that helped usher trade between India, Europe, and Central Asia. The magnificent and monumental architecture, photographed in the 19th century, lends itself to a deeper questioning of the narrative.
