IIT JAM (Joint Admission Test for M.Sc) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) for admission to Master of Science (M.Sc) programs and other postgraduate science programs. Physics is one of the subjects in which the JAM exam is conducted. The IIT JAM Physics exam tests the candidate's understanding of classical and modern physics concepts, including mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, atomic and molecular physics, and optics. The exam consists of 60 multiple-choice questions to be answered in 3 hours.

The IIT JAM exam pattern varies depending on the subject for which you are taking the exam. However, the exam typically has the following features:

The exam is conducted in an online format, with the exception of the Biological Sciences (BL) paper which is conducted in an offline format

The duration of the exam is 3 hours

The question paper consists of 60 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) carrying 100 marks.

There is a negative marking of 1/3rd mark for each incorrect answer in the MCQs

The eligibility criteria for the IIT JAM exam depend on the program for which you are applying. However, generally, the eligibility criteria for the IIT JAM exam are as follows:

Bachelor's degree: Candidates must have completed a Bachelor's degree in relevant field from a recognized University or Institute.

Percentage requirements: Candidates must have obtained at least 55% aggregate marks (without rounding off) in the qualifying degree. Candidates belonging to the "OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD and transgender" categories must have obtained at least 50% aggregate marks (without rounding off) in the qualifying degree.

Final year students: Candidates who are in the final year of their Bachelor's degree program are also eligible to apply for the IIT JAM exam, provided they complete all the requirements for obtaining their Bachelor's degree before the specified date.

Age limit: There is no age limit for appearing in the IIT JAM exam
