History Recreated: This is a 32 caliber Flintlock long-rifle in the style that would have been common in East Tennessee / Western North Carolina during the first half of the 19th Century. It is my own design but is patterned from and influenced by originals from the 1820's through 1840's. It is a rifle with few embellishments which would have been typical of a "common man's" hunting rifle. Not a lot of the originals of this style remain although there were probably far more of these made than the fancy engraved and carved rifles. These were hunting tools used to put food on the table and thus were used hard and repaired until they could not be repaired any longer. Then any salvageable parts were used by the gunsmith to make a new rifle. Sometimes these are called "Poor Boys" rifles but I don't like that phrase. They are the hunting rifles of the common man.
